I think we made a mistake being Muggles trying to make Butterbeer.

Um, don't make it like we did.
Um, don't make it like we did.

When I was vising my cousin I thought it would be fun to be a delicious adult libation.  Obviously butterbeer was the first choice that popped into my head.  Harry Potter is awesome, butterbeer sounds magical and tastey, and what else would I want?

After some careful researching, I found a bunch of great sounding recipes (mostly including actual butter and fine spices) and decided to make my own.  Obviously the best choice.

Our recipe went like so….

Butterscotch schapps (the cheapest, of course)
Cream soda
Caramel Vanilla creamer

Then once we had our ingredients, we decided to mix it in a pitcher.  The ratios were as follows: All of the butterscotch schnapps and whatever leftover in cream soda.  Then creamer as needed per glass.

Warning.  Don’t make this recipe.  It sucked.  It was like drinking pure syrup laced with sugar with a sugar glaze.  I think I had a sugar hangover after one sip.

  1. Ugh! We tried a recipe too that was HORRIBLE! I can barely remember what was in it, but it is possible that beer and butter were part of it. It was a british man foodie blog recipe that promised “authentic delicious butterbeer” but it produced a heinous drink that made me hate living. So, I feel your pain.
